2023 Seawind 1170 “LaurieSue” – Fully Outfitted, Duty Paid, Sail-Away Ready
Next Showing Location: Jacksonville, FL
Update: LaurieSue has recently been upgraded with Evercor decks. Evercor is a premium cork/polymer marine decking product designed specifically for harsh marine environments. It offers a comfortable, anti-fatigue feel underfoot, excellent sound and thermal insulating properties, and a naturally slip-resistant surface for added safety when wet. It’s also low-maintenance (no sanding, sealing, or staining like teak), highly durable and resistant to water and UV exposure. In contrast to EVA foam decking products (like Seadeck), it is more dense and more durable for the long term. We are incredibly happy with the look and functionality of these new decks!
The Seawind 1170 is the best sailing catamaran for part or full time cruising in the 41′ and under size range. “LaurieSue” has been well maintained and extensively upgraded. We have sailed “LaurieSue” over 10,000 miles and shaken out and addressed any and all bugs associated with a new boat. “LaurieSue” is bluewater-ready today without the wait times, commissioning costs, shipping hassles, or import duty fees and tariffs.

From the Eastern Caribbean to the Western Caribbean, up the east coast of the US, and all the way to the fjords of Maine, LaurieSue has been an incredibly safe and comfortable vessel for the past 2 1/2 years. We have cruised in calm, glassy conditions, stretched out on the trampolines watching dolphins swim off the bows for hours. We have also spent days at sea in weather we would rather have avoided, but through it all we always felt safe and secure.
LaurieSue has been the perfect platform for hosting our family and friends in some of the most beautiful places in the world. Her shallow draft has let us sneak into anchorages many boats cannot reach. Her large windows offer amazing ventilation, the trifold door opens up the cockpit and saloon into one inviting space (making for one of the best boats to host dinner or sundowners in the anchorage), and her protected helm stations have kept us warm, dry, and secure in even the most challenging conditions.
LaurieSue is our fifth cruising boat and one of the first questions we always ask is: Why are you selling?
The truth is, we want a bigger boat that we can specifically outfit for colder wind-less areas of the world. LaurieSue has an incredible amount of space for her size and has been roomy and comfortable even with guests onboard but as we consider growing our family and having longer term guests aboard we wish to upgrade to a larger overall footprint. Also, LaurieSue is ready to cross oceans or continue sailing through the tropics. She is capable and well-prepared, and we would gladly sail her across the Pacific ourselves tomorrow. But right now, our personal lives are not quite aligned with that adventure. Lastly, we find ourselves missing the process of bringing older boats back to life, giving them new energy and a new story. Timing and circumstances are lining up making now the right moment for our next project.
We have done what we set out to do with this boat and now it is time to find LaurieSue her next owner.
