Beginner on a budget. Minimum needed to get started.

As a beginner wing foiler just getting started or looking to get started you are probably on a budget or at least don’t want to go ALL OUT on wing foil gear before you know you can do and enjoy it. You really don’t need the absolute highest performance lightest gear and a full quiver to get going. The following list of gear will get you riding in most moderately windy conditions. For reference I am 5’8″, 170lbs, good balance, and started in conditions 12-20 knots.

Macro Board

Aluminum Mast

Large Front Foil

Large Tail Foil

5m Wing (go 6m if you are bigger/taller)

5m Cabrinha Crosswing Wildcard Color

4m Mantis Wing for heavier wind

Recommended Upgrades and additions in Priority Order

As you get into wing foiling and wanting to ride in a wider range of conditions you will want to start to upgrade your wing foil gear. Here are my recommendations for upgrading in priority order. With just another (flatter) wing and smaller front foil you’ll be able to ride pretty comfortably in up to 30 knots.

4m Mantis Wing w/ Window

Smaller High Aspect Front Foil (1200)

Smaller HA Tail foil

Smaller Board

Carbon Mast (slightly longer)

Even Smaller High Aspect front foil (800)
